Many have long questioned Nintendo’s seeming hesitation to tap into the mobile market, which has seen explosive growth within the past several years. That’s about to change with the company’s recent announcement of its first mobile app, called Miitomo, launching in March 2016. Rather than being a game in the traditional sense, the company describes the app as a “communication application that helps friends share fun personal facts and interests.” Although the app will be free to download, in-app purchases will be available. Miitomo will be released for iPhone and Android devices.
